Next-Generation iPod nano Boasts of New Features and Larger Display

Although everybody and their cousin is talking about the new iPhone 5 and its merits over previous-generation iPhones, there is still a considerable market for the iPod, which was revamped yesterday at Apple’s press event at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco.

As Apple had promised, the iPod had been “reinvented”, and the new, seventh-generation iPod nano is a very good example of such.

It is 40 percent thinner than the last iPod nano, and has a larger, 2-inch screen with multitouch capabilities. An improved volume rocker is found on the side of the new iPod nano, which would allow users to easily manage their music, so to say.

Thanks to the new volume rocker, it is now much more convenient for users to adjust music volume or choose their favorite songs to play. A live pause function now comes with the nano’s FM tuner.

Available colors for the seventh-generation iPod nano are blue, red, yellow, green, black, silver and purple – lots of flavors for a variety of tastes. The new 8-pin “Lightning” dock connector is also included in the device.

So far, those are some of the more important new features on Apple’s new iPod nano. In terms of specifications, there aren’t too many new additions thrown into the mix. Integration with Nike+ is one of those new specs, perfect for the fitness and sports-minded user. There still aren’t any features for Internet access or Wi-Fi connectivity; Bluetooth is available, however, for wireless streaming of media.
