Samsung Galaxy S3 Rumors: Press Photo Leaked, Is This The Real Deal?

With just a few days before the official Unpacked announcement event, photos of the Samsung Galaxy S3 have leaked online.

Tech site GSMarenais the source of the new press image, and compared to others we’ve seen in the recent past, this one looks quite credible. That said, we’re not concluding this photo is the real deal, but compared to a supposedly official design recently posted on a Korean site, there are a lot of similarities.

Some of these similarities include a physical home button with two other physical buttons on each side. The home button had been a source of contention for some time – will it feature on the Galaxy S3 or won’t it? – however, it looks like it’s going to be there after all.

The aforementioned Korean design also specified a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED MIPI display, 1080p recording and playback, an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and several sensors, including Barometer, Gyro, RGB and Electromagnetic. Also, the device will be shipping with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

So far, some of these rumored specs are already official, such as Android Ice Cream Sandwich and the quad-core CPU, a Samsung Exynos. The name of the device also is official, as per Samsung’s latest teaser.

Apparently, Samsung will stick to numerical designations and call their new handset a Galaxy S3 – they won’t be going the Apple route and calling it a Next Galaxy or a New Galaxy. With a couple days remaining before Unpacked, all the other questions on the Galaxy S3’s specs should definitely be answered by then.
