Samsung Galaxy S3: Where to Get One Stateside?

That’s the big question as only a day remains before the Samsung Galaxy S3 is announced in London.

That’s the big question as only a day remains before the Samsung Galaxy S3 is announced in London. The much-awaited Samsung flagship handset will be available for UK customers through Vodafone UK and O2.

What about those customers across the pond, specifically those in the US?

Unfortunately we haven’t gotten any word from US carriers regarding their plans for the Galaxy S3. But just as sports analysts size up the chances of all teams in any given league before the season begins, we’ll try to do the same and size up these US carriers in preparation for the Galaxy S3.

The way we see it, Verizon Wireless is the most likely carrier to offer the Samsung Galaxy S3. First of all, Verizon has the widest 4G LTE network in America, and a handset like the Galaxy S3 would further enhance its status as such. Secondly, online leaks have suggested that the Galaxy S3 would be a certainty on Verizon, although as the case is with leaked roadmaps, this doesn’t make for 100% confirmation.

AT&T may also benefit from another 4G LTE device on its roster, as they don’t have a bad LTE network and have their share of LTE-capable devices and Galaxy S-series devices on their lineup. This could give them a good incentive to go with the Galaxy S3.

Rounding up the pack are Sprint and T-Mobile, two carriers which we shall refer to as our dark horses.

Sprint has a nascent 4G LTE network, while T-Mobile has none. Sprint may want to add another LTE device as they continue beefing up their network, however, problems with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus might behoove them to pass up on the Galaxy S3 for the meantime.

T-Mobile, on the other hand, would benefit most if 4G LTE incompatibility will restrict the US Galaxy S3 to a dual-core – this could make them possibly the only US network to carry a quad-core Galaxy S3, if such a possibility occurs.

These are all predictions and anything can happen between now and the Galaxy S3’s Stateside launch. But one thing’s for sure – the more carrier options, the merrier – so here’s hoping we see the Galaxy S3 available on as many US carriers as possible.
